Recent little learnings for adulthood
- Nobody really knows how the world works; it's everyone's first time living too.
- It's ok to spend your life experimenting and trying to find things out, who you are and what you like.
- The purpose is to enjoy your time on earth & feel well. There is no rush to anywhere. When you need to, take breaks.
- Efficiency is an illusion. If the goal is to enjoy life, the most efficient thing you can do is listen to yourself and pace yourself.
- Design your life & choose things that serve you, not that you serve (at no benefit). The point is to enjoy the now, not chase an ideal future.
- Nothing is permanent. This is both good, bad, scary, but an essential part of humanity. Enjoy the good times, they are special because they're not permanent. Weather the bad times, they will pass.
- You have agency, can control what you choose to do, are in charge of directing your own destiny. Don't let yourself be pushed around.
- What others think about/tell/react to you says way more about them than about you.
- Everyone's internal model of "how the world is" is wrong in some way (often in a lot of ways). It's based on common culture knowledge that is passed down by generations, shaped by media, history, childhood... Do not let it shackle you, or believe in it too seriously. That includes your own model in your head.
- Above all, do your best to be honest with yourself, despite both the external and internal pressures around you.
